- Where to apply
- Brampton Building and Business Portal
- Review time
- The City's standard service reviews home renovation permits in 10 business days.
The enclosure must be 1.2 m to 2 m high with self-closing gates and a lockable latch. No water goes in until it's inspected; a hot tub with a locked cover is exempt.
What an application usually includes
Brampton’s checklist has the exact list; apply through Brampton Building and Business Portal.
- A site plan showing the pool, the enclosure and the gates
- A cross-section of the fence with its height and openings
- Gate details: self-closing, self-latching, latch height
- The application, and an inspection before you fill the pool
Local quirks
- Two zoning by-laws apply right now (270-2004 and the new 14-2026, which is under appeal), and the stricter rule wins. Check both for fences and deck setbacks.
- A pool needs paperwork before digging: Alectra Utilities stamps the site plan first, and fill or road occupancy permits may apply.
